Why I Became The Nerve Coach

My journey into holistic healthcare is deeply personal—because I have lived through the exact pain you are experiencing.

Twenty years ago, a severe mountain fall left me with three herniated discs in my neck, three in my lower back, and debilitating sciatica. The pain was relentless. Surgery was strongly recommended for my L4-L5 disc, but I refused. I had seen the devastating risks of spinal surgery firsthand: my brother-in-law underwent a procedure that left him paralyzed, forcing my sister to become his full-time caregiver. I had also watched my own mother struggle terribly with post-stroke nerve pain. I knew I had to find another way.

Instead of going under the knife, I decided to do it differently. For over 30 years in my clinic, I had utilized the best outside-in approaches—dry needling, acupuncture, and the right core programming for waking up nerve health. I knew how to restore structural flow. But through my own injury, I realized a fundamental truth: doing all the right things from the outside is simply not enough.

You can do the physical therapy, the dry needling, and the exercises, but if your internal environment is inflamed, your nerves cannot heal. Conversely, eating perfectly is not enough if your structural flow is blocked. I realized there was a missing link. To become truly neuroprotective and achieve lasting healing, you must work from the outside in *and* the inside out, allowing them to meet at the center of your nerve health.

From the outside in, I utilized my decades of clinical tools—acupuncture, dry needling, and core programming—alongside the pioneering perineural injection therapy of Dr. John Lyftogt to get my superficial nerves on the right healing journey. I combined this with a unique biotensegrity fascial mobility program to restore structural flow.

But I knew this had to be married with the inside-out approach. I used food as medicine to heal the oxidative stress that was damaging my cells. I utilized targeted supplements to support my body’s methylation pathways, keeping my nerve health and its DNA protected so my system could continually regenerate. I healed my gut, shifted my mindset, and systematically reduced my body’s systemic inflammation.

It was only when these two approaches converged—meeting at the center of my nerve health—that true, lasting healing happened. This integrated approach completely resolved my nerve pain. I have now been entirely pain-free for 15 years. Today, at almost 60 years old, I am still skiing, climbing, and hiking the mountains that once broke me.

This is the philosophy that guides every step of my practice. I saw too many patients with peripheral neuropathy being told there was no hope. I knew that by combining my Western clinical training with Eastern healing traditions, I could offer a path to actual nerve regeneration—because I am living proof that it is possible.
